Sidney Onoriode Esiri (Dr SID) is a Delta State native who grew up in Lagos. On May 1, 1980, he was born. His father, Justus Esiri, is an actor and his mother is a fashion designer. Dr. Sid moved on to the University of Ibadan, Ibadan (UI) to study Dentistry and Dental Surgery after graduating from the Nigerian Air Force Secondary School in Ikeja. During his school years, he participated in school plays, dance competitions, and concerts, demonstrating his talent for entertainment.
Dr.Sid began his career as a choreographer with the Tribesmen in 1999. Later, he had the opportunity to work with 2Shots, Sasha, Del, Timi Dakolo, Freestyle, Eldee, and Kb to release the smash song ‘OYA’ with the members of Da Trybe. He later left for United Kingdom and JJC, 419 Squad, R70, Kas, Felix Duke, and Dbanj were among the artists he met in the United Kingdom. He eventually returned to Nigeria, where he worked at the Lagos Teaching Hospital before enrolling in the National Youth Service Corps in Yola, Adamawa State. He was featured in seven of the fifteen tracks on Mo Hits Allstars’ collective album Curriculum Vitae (CV), which included the hits “Booty Call” and “Close to You.” The dentist spent 2006, 2007, and 2008 travelling the world with Mo Hits Allstars, appearing at most of the country’s main events, including Thisday Music Festival and Star Mega Jam.
In April 2010, Dr Sid released his first studio album, ‘Turning Point,’ with Mo Hits Records under Don Jazzy. ‘Something About You,’ ‘Pop Something,’ and ‘Over The Moon,’ which topped most Nigerian music charts at the time. After Don Jazzy and Dbanj split up and Mo Hits Records was dissolved, Dr Sid joined Don Jazzy, who launched a new record label called Mavin Records. Before her recent shift to another record company in 2019, Tiwa Savage was previously a part of Marvin Records.
Dr Sid’s new album, ‘Siduction,’ was produced by Mavin Records in 2013. Surulere, Baby Tornado starring Alexandre Burke, Oyari featuring Tiwa Savage, and Last Bus Stop are some of his hit songs.
