NIGERIAN MUSICIAN CHIBUZOR OJI BIOGRAPHY
Chibuzor Oji (Faze) was born in the Lagos neighborhood of Festac in 1977. Oji is one of nine children in a large family. All members of the family are said to have excellent singing voices, which have been honed over time spent singing praises at church. Faze attended Festac Grammar School and Nazareth Primary School in Festac Town, Lagos, before enrolling at Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma.
Faze is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and actor who has been writing and singing since 1994, when he won the DBN Karaoke Contest. That marked the start of his ascension to fame. He had always enjoyed singing, but it wasn’t until he met Tuface and Blackface, the other members of the Plantashun Boiz, that he decided to pursue it professionally. The singer also admitted that he had trouble finding the right sound to please his fans at first, but that he did so eventually. He refers to the sound as having a “universal flavor” because it includes elements of Jazz, Raggae, Soul, Rap, Hip-hop, and Soul, among others.
Faze was a rapper who went by the stage name ‘Lyrical Orge’ before joining the popular musical group ‘Plantashun Boiz.’ After two albums in 2004, each member of the defunct Plantashun Boiz went solo, and Faze released his first album, ‘Faze Alone,’ on the WestSide Music Label in the same year. His critics claim he used the album to gain pity and favor from fans, and that it sold over one million copies. In 2006, he released his second album, ‘Independent,’ which sold over 3 million copies. ‘Kolomental,’ ‘Tattoo girls,’ and ‘Kpodipkokpo’ were among the singles included on the album. His third album, ‘Originality,’ was released in 2008, and it went platinum in its first month. He holds the record for the first Nigerian artist to have three platinum albums in a row.
‘ReFAZED’ was released in 2012, followed by ‘Alone’ in 2017. He has collaborated with a number of artists, including Wyclef Jean on the single “Proud to Be African,” which was released in 2004. He was once said to be signed to Akon’s Konvict Music and was planning to relocate to the United States to pursue his music career, a claim that Akon later denied.
Faze is also an actor, in addition to singing. He made his acting debut in the 2004 film ‘Lovechild,’ in which he played the lead role. He’s worked with major corporations like Star, Guinness, Sprite, Globacom, and others. These endorsements are thought to have contributed to his fortune.
There isn’t much information about his wife or children, but it’s thought he’s married. He chose to keep information about his family off social media.
Faze is estimated to have a net worth of $1.5 million dollars.
